Opportunities

Get your hands dirty!

For the vast majority of human history, farming has been a community endeavor.  We believe in maintaining those crucial connections between eaters and growers, and in building and supporting them through on-farm participation opportunities.  We understand that everyone can't (and shouldn't!) quit their day job to go farm, but that many people may still want to get their hands dirty while learning about crops, soils, compost and other aspects of organic agriculture.

Workshops - throughout the season we may host on-farm, participatory workshops covering topics such as seed-starting, transplanting, composting, beekeeping, wildcrafting/foraging and other related topics.  These group educational events are typically free or donation based.  Keep an eye on our events page and our facebook group for details about any scheduled workshops that we may host.  Our farmers are also available to lead classes and workshops for your garden club, school, farm or community organization.  Contact us for rates and availability.

Volunteer Days - we will host farmer-led volunteer days during the more pleasant months of the year (April - October).  These events are generally held on the weekend and can accommodate small and medium sized groups of any ability level.  While any interaction on the farm is a learning opportunity, volunteer days are really about small group labor projects - turning compost piles, clearing brush, building fences etc.  They're a great workout and a lot of fun.  Volunteer dates will be posted to this page as they become available.  We can also schedule group volunteer events for your family, friends, youth group etc., contact us for more information.

Internships / Apprenticeships - we will begin accepting applications for interns and apprentices in the spring.  In keeping with the traditional methods of agricultural learning, interns and apprentices will work closely with our farmers in all aspects of farm operations.  Internships are uncompensated positions requiring a minimum of 8 hours a week for a period of 8 weeks.  Interns may be eligible to receive school credit for their work with us.  Apprenticeships are longer and more intensive positions. Apprentices will be expected to maintain at least 16 hours of work a week for a period of 12 weeks. Apprentices will be compensated $20 a week to help with travel expenses and will receive a weekly CSA part share for the duration of their apprenticeship.  At the completion of their program, apprentices can expect to be prepared to take on an entry level position in ecologically based agriculture.  These are NOT live-on opportunities, but we may be able to help you find boarding if you are interested in travelling to work with us.  All applicants will be expected to complete a working interview before being formally offered a position.  Contact us to receive an internship/apprenticeship application or for more information on these opportunities.

There are currently no scheduled volunteer days.  Check back here beginning in April for an updated volunteer schedule.
